Inuyasha - Leave Uncle Sesshy Alone

I have lots of forced bed-rest without anything to do, so I started rewatching my old anime collection - I haven't seen / read Inuyasha since high school, so it seemed like a good starting point.

I'm only like 20 episodes in and I've already come down with a sever case of nostalgia, please halp.

Back then I wasn't much for theorising and making up headcanons, but I always found the idea of Sesshoumaru secretly liking kids hilariously adorable. So have some post-canon AU fluff while I go back to nostalgia land.

Inuyasha wandered around the settlement, looking for his wayward daughter. She was a fearless little explorer just like her mother and what else could prove her bravery better than her current endeavour: she climbed up Sesshoumaru's pelt to place a flower crown on the resting daiyoukai's head.

Sesshoumaru bore it with his trademark stoic expression, motionlessly staring into the distance, but his nose twitched from time to time.

He crouched down beside the two of them, grinning broadly.

"Hina, what did I say about annoying your Uncle Sesshy?"

A corner of a mouth twitched and the stony expression turned into an outright frown. Perfect.

"But daddy, he likes the flowers! He was smiling before you came."

Inuyasha feigned mock surprise. "Was he? Unbelievable. Why don't you tell your mom all about it?"

Hina giggled and ran off to find Kagome and the other women, leaving Inuyasha and his brother alone.

"You like her," Inuyasha accused, still grinning. It wasn't technically a secret that Sesshoumaru had a penchant for children, but it was always fun to needle the youkai about it.

"She is an agreeable kid. It is a miracle, with you as her father." A half-hearted jab at best and they both knew it.

"Maybe you should get a few kids of your own and show us all how to do parenting properly," Inuyasha suggested cheekily. He might have grown up in the seven years since Kagome's return, but he didn't overdo it for certain, much to Sesshoumaru's continued annoyance.

"Hn."

"Talkative as always." He was startled when the youkai abruptly stood up. "Going already? Rin will be disappointed if you don't stick around for her birthday party."

"I'll be back, but I need to settle something first," Sesshoumaru said coldly and dumped his crown of flowers on his brother's head.

Inuyasha started violently sneezing the moment he caught whiff of the flowers.

"You bastard! How did you stand this?!" he demanded from Sesshoumaru's retreating back between two sneezing fits.

"Just one more thing that proves I am better than you, Inuyasha," his brother replied offhandedly, leaving the cursing Inuyasha to his fate of unstoppable sneezing.

Serves him right for attempting to make fun of the great Sesshoumaru.
